Wow, where do we start and stop with these type of fences?
There is a huge array of styles and materials available that in some cases is only limited by your imagination (sorry and budget)!
As with all our construction advice we will always only build these types of fences using best practices and materials whatever they may be.
Here are some advice points on the timber type of fences that we offer to all our clients.
We mostly use oversized posts (300mm longer than usual minimum size) so as to get the posts into the ground deeper for added stability of your fence ongoing, we always recommend larger style posts for aesthetics and strength, we will also advise on what type of timber, steel or other type of posts would be best for your specific project. Capitals for the top of your posts come in a wide variety and there are several choices of materials they can be made from, machining of timber posts is also another way to customise your fence setting it apart from others.
In the vast majority of cases we will recommend using concrete due to its superior strength instead of cement soil amalgam (cement mixed with soil). Concrete is particularly superior to a fences ongoing stability especially in sandy soil conditions and on higher than usual fences.
Picket Fence Materials Timber Type:
For your plinth and rails, we recommend best available quality Kiln Dried (KD) Treated Pine as not only is it cost effective it is also less prone to warping than what rough sawn pine is and is more resilient to termite attack and weather damage in general. Pickets depending on the style you want could range from treated pine ones through to high end hardwood ones and everything in between.
Some timber fencing materials are just a step above packaging grade timber so it’s VERY important that the timber fence frame is built using best practices which includes not skimping on fixings or materials in general (many do this) and using the correct sized and number of galvanised fixings!
Protecting Your Picket Fence:
Now that you have a PROPERLY built timber fence in place you may consider painting or staining it to not only enhance its look but to also protect it ongoing, if painting or staining the fence (or having it done for you) choose lighter colours if the fence is to receive a lot of hot afternoon sun, darker colours will attract heat and could potentially warp the timber pickets depending on the type used.
Other Non Timber Pickets:
Speak with one of our knowledgable fence installers for details on your options using non timber picket fence materials.

Warren and Vea have always done an awesome job looking after our garden and lawn maintenance. When they left to pursue further work with V.I.P. franchises, they didn't leave us hanging to find our own replacement gardener. Instead, they replaced and personally introduced Alastar to us as our new gardener. Warren and Vea spoke really highly of Alastar who lived up to those expectations and more. Alastar helped us with our garden for about a year and later on went onto V.I.P. fencing as his new trade. Alastar managed to efficiently and quickly replace us with John, another great V.I.P .worker to help manage and maintain our garden. A few months later, we discovered we were pregnant and decided we needed to change our fence for more privacy. Our fence was a short picket fence and we used to have unwanted telemarketers knocking at our door quite a bit. The fence was also old and worn out, and very much in due for a makeover. We were also worried about our finances and not being able to afford a new fence or what we had envisioned. We knew since Alastar moved onto fencing, we decided we should work with him on this project. We had no hesitation in ringing Alastar as he had helped us heaps in the past with our garden. He would always go beyond for us, and for that we are extremely grateful. My husband and I had no idea what council required or what drawings they needed and Alastar was so kind to us that he went out of his way to find out that information. Alastar is a great communicator. He helped us with fence and security door ideas that would best suit our budget. He seems a very busy man but even tried to get the fence in quickly for us knowing we had our little one and that we had been waiting awhile for council permit approval. Alastar even rang John, our gardener, to discuss the mulch and the trees surrounding the fence, and how much that cost to clear. We had not asked Alastar to ring John, but he went out of his way yet again. We are so appreciative of Alastar and his work ethics, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him. Alastar even worked while it was raining, and even till the end, communicated everything to us as he worked. Our fence is superb and the workmanship really outstanding! It looks really good and we love it! Thanks Alastar for helping us out and the amazing build you've done for us!"

Our company recently engaged Warren Smith from VIP home services to have a fence replaced on behalf of one of our clients. We found Warren to be both professional and thorough in his approach and workmanship with a real can do attitude. We have since used his services on 2 further occasions and would have no hesitation in recommending him. Regards Russell Mcinnes

"When our old fence had to be demolished because it was falling over and had holes in it my neighbour refused to pay half. The stress involved was just incredible and it went on for about two years until I finally decided to pay for the fence myself. Although I had used another cheaper fencing company to replace our back fence I decided to use VIP Home Services for the side fence instead. Alastar and Matt did a fantastic job on our side fence and the difference is just unbelievable. The VIP fence is not the cheapest fence but it is clearly better quality and it has completely changed the way our backyard looks and feels. We now have privacy and a totally different feel to our backyard and driveway. I really appreciate VIP Home Services attention to detail and I can honestly say that this is the best thing that has happened to me in the last two years. I have attached before and after photographs to show just what a difference this fence has made."

Hi Ben. Just a short note to again indicate my appreciation for the replacement of two fences for my daughter and me. From the first contact with you when you provided me with quotes, I was pleased with several things; (a) your promptness in providing the quotes, (b) your professional and considered advice as to what was the best material etc. that suited our requirements and finally the professional completion and appearance of the fences that were done in a timely manner. Due to your professional work and friendly disposition, I would have no hesitation in recommending your work to anyone. Regards Neil O’Loughlin.

Congratulations to Mark from VIP Home Services fencing for the completion of our classy new Colorbond Fence. Mark integrated our initial ideas with his own suggestions to produce a Breezeway Colorbond fence with zigzag panels, and an eye pleasing appearance. The whole process from design & quoting, demolition of the old fence, to construction with several included extras to perfect the job, was seamless. I would highly recommend Mark to anyone wanting a quality fence made with superior professional standards.

We always trust our first impression to select people to do a job for us. Bryan came to our place for a quote on time, listened to us quietly, measured up precisely, and prepared honest quote. Yesterday, while it was raining heavy, he worked very carefully but efficiently to complete the job as he promised. Both my wife and I love what he has delivered, very beautiful infill panel! Behind the scene, Karen communicated with us very well, informing us of schedule, etc. We still have a few more jobs to be done and for sure we will go straight to them. (Product Review Testimonial)
