Ass to Class!
The Brief:
The two downstairs living areas were designed to create both a warm ambience to the entrance of the home and to give easy access to the rear decked area. The front lounge is more of a place to relax and contemplate, while the rear lounge is designed more for general family entertainment.
The Journey:
To start with the front lounge, it needed the old twin sliding doors that accessed the dining room closed up to accommodate the new kitchen going in and the other twin sliders from hallway removed to give a flow from front of house to the back. A single exit door in the lounge was also removed and widened to create the same size space of walk through as the old sliders in the hallway. Fireplace was converted from open fire to a gas log fire with stone façade and custom – made hardwood mantelpiece. Once again, we used double glazed PVC windows and sliding door were installed to replace existing ones and a sliding retractable fly screen was used on the doorway to the deck. Paint colours were chosen with the help of a stylist and floors sanded and coated in a satin clear finish to really bring out the best in the overall look and feel of the rooms. The walkthrough area that joins the two lounges and also the snug and kitchen had a fan light added to circulate air in all of these rooms and works brilliantly in conjunction with air conditioning!
Unique lighting along with LED stainless downlights really sets it all off.
