This is part of our first home reno series. Please remember to read our "Reno & Home Improvement Advice" blog before you attempt such a large project on your own.
Tragic to Magic!
The Brief:
We wanted to create a decked area that gave us ample room to entertain and relax on day or night, which also had a storage element below for non water perishable items like surf boards and the likes.
The Journey:
After measuring up to see what would fit the bill we included it into the renovation plans/drawings for council approval.
We then looked at how we would make it just that bit more special so added in a low maintenance water feature, lined the roof of the pavilion with some Tasmanian Oak left over floor boards, added in down lights to lining boards, placed a night sky colorbond roof on it so it tied in with the rest of the overall project and made it fully waterproof at the same time (originally we were going to have a thatch Bali hut roof but thought better of it as the deck evolved).
Other lighting added was LED spot lights in general including for the water feature and LED stair lights both on stairs and on side of deck above a raised garden bed lighting it and part of the garden up.
