This is part of our first home reno series. Please remember to read our "Reno & Home Improvement Advice" blog before you attempt such a large project on your own.
Yay - Before and After!
The Brief:
To transform the whole property inside and out and make it suitable to our tastes and overall lifestyle.
The Journey:
After purchasing the property in November 2016, we began planning what to do with it and how much it would cost to achieve the desired end results. The agent we purchased to property through gave us some great advice and suggested a figure we should stick to regarding the project.
Upon moving into the home in Feb 2017, we made further plans based on living in the home and understanding it, and its surroundings further and began the projects in earnest around July 17.
We have since finished everything and after tallying all the costs up we only went over our recommended budget by a mere 2.5%, which when you consider some projects were expanded and all were finished to the highest possible standard, we are very happy with that!
Since purchasing the property in 2016 the market has cooled considerably, so to have two separate agents value the property last week (both were exactly the same in their range and neither was the agent we purchased through) at a figure that matched and slightly exceeded the figure quoted for it with improvements made back in a hot market, made us pretty happy!
The upshot; it was not easy and it was at times very stressful but what makes us smile contentedly now, we have a lovely home to live in that is very low maintenance and very user friendly with an owe figure that we could not get close to, if we had to go and buy it now as it is.
Hope you enjoyed following our journey and good luck on your home improvements, more case studies to assist or inspire will follow.
