This is part of our first home reno series. Please remember to read our "Reno & Home Improvement Advice" blog before you attempt such a large project on your own.
Luxurious Style and Comfort
The Brief:
The master bedroom was to be "Luxe" modern, of a generous size, while offering the convenience of an ensuite and extra storage for clothes via a walk-through wardrobe/dressing area.
The Journey:
In order to achieve the look that we wanted we needed to completely strip out the entire area, take one door out and add another, create bulkhead reveals in wardrobe areas, remove existing windows and external awning and totally replace whole bathroom area and fittings.
As always, we chose the better of the contractors to carry out works like the bathroom renovation as we wanted the job done properley and to high standard. We were however able to purchase real high-end fittings at greatly reduced prices through a warehouse that specialises in offering run out items and so called "damaged" goods that have really only not got their original packaging, we saved a heap here without any quality compromises! (Note you can opt or bathroom renovators to include fittings but we chose to get our own).
The kitchen benchtop was carried through to the bathroom with both the style of the floor tiles and the sink bench top which was made of the same material and profile.
The double-glazed windows chosen, gave us not only great insulation from noise and temperature extremes, but also allowed us to clean the outside of the windows from inside via the central window opening inwards fully, very handy!
Wardrobe doors gave the room a real lift and the clever storage design inside made the most of the space available.
Curtains, carpets, rugs, light fittings, bedding, furniture and artworks just finished it off wonderfully, well for us anyway.
